Enjoyed this one. Lots of twists and turns.. An unidentified man is found hanging from a tree and Ravenscroft and Crabb have to figure out who he is and who killed him. Ravenscroft even travels to America and has a run in with Pinkerton detectives.. Lucy has a bigger role in this one too.. Leading her on a trip to London.. All in a'll a good read

The eighth installment in the Inspector Ravenscroft series. Some rather creepy characters in this one. Overall a good read. There's a definite formula to Tomb's stories, but I am reading them all back to back, so probably why it stands out.. But I've only two more to read..there are 3 more books, but I read #10 first.. It was Christmas themed

This one was a page turner for me, I finished in one day. Granted it's not very long, but I rarely do that.. There's a missing little girl, and Ravenscroft is called in to find her..was it the nanny, the disgruntled neighbor, the crazed man in the cemetery? And why is her father being such an ass?! And Ravenscroft's wife Lucy is trying to help a young lady find her baby.. Are the two cases related?

I didn't like this 4th book as well as the first three, but was still good.. A group of strangers meet in Tewkesbury.. And start dropping like flies.. All centered around a Knight Templar

Third installment in the Inspector Ravenscroft series.. The inspector is married now and settled in Ledbury; on the hunt for another murderer, then another unidentified dead man is found, and there's a secret package. And a connection to the Royal family..and the subplot from the first two books continues.. I'm enjoying this series overall, be sure to read in order

At first I was a bit put off by the 'interlude' chapters, that jump to different characters in this continuing subplot, but it did come together at the end; and will continue into the third book.. I do like Ravenscroft & Crabb, though sometimes they repeat things the reader already knows a tad too much

Rather biased writing, and didn't find the answers I was looking for...as in why? Why did Unity and Diane go fascist? There seems to be no underlying reason.. Besides an obsession with a man.. Very little really written about Deborah or Pam, and the author is hostile towards Jessica while Unity seems to do no wrong in the author's eyes. I'm sure there are better bios about the sisters out there.

This one is a full length mystery, which finds Archie undercover in an office, trying to find out if an employee had been murdered months before.. . Another great read!

Three more excellent mysteries! I'd read this one before, several years ago, so I didn't remember the details or who the murderer was before I started., if you want a quick read, where you don't have to tax your brain too much, you can't go wrong with these books.. Most of which can be read in any order..

I actually hadn't read this one before.. Three mysteries.. One involves a communist (was written in the 50s, so..) One involving a murder in a barber shop (I had seen the tv version of this one) and one involving a comic strip writing team.. All were good! A nice quick read..

Opting for a quick, fun read this weekend; while I nurse a painful knee

Greatly enjoyed this third and final from the series.. Only thing was I wish I hadn't waited so long between 2 & 3, as I had a hard time remembering some of the charactera. All three books are good, IMO, if you like post WW II English cozy type musteries

Started #4 in the Churchill & Pemberley series last night. It just came out last week.. So I'm tagging the first book, as it's not in the Litsy system yet. But so far so good, only a few chapters in. The ladies are rather humorous.

Finished #9 in the Penny Green series yesterday, it's not in the Litsy system yet, so I can't tag the book. But was very good, one of my favs from the series. And a quick read.. I tagged the first book in the series

As usual, I enjoyed this installment in the Penny Green Mysteries. And as usual she had a nice bit at the end about her research into the subject matter; workhouses, etc.I don't want to give away too much about what happens within the mystery. I also discovered Ms Organ has a map of Penny Green's London on her website, which I thought was pretty cool. If you like cozy-type Victorian era mysteries, check them out.They do go in order

So I'm on to this one. It's been on my stack for a while now, but I had to wait to get my new glasses before reading, because the font was such a strain.. It's a time period I enjoy reading about, and have for years (read that as before I even heard of Downton Abbey) as I am a history buff. It was originally written in 1940.

I gave up on this one.. Just found it meh.. And really was kind of expecting something else.... I may give it another go at some later date

Going to start this one next.. It has very mixed reviews, people seem to love it or hate it.. But looks intriguing to me.. Only time will tell

Finished this one up last night. I did enjoy it better than the first installment. A wedding, artwork, forgeries, and multiple mixers, Lennox and Scotland Yard man Swift team up this time to find the answers.. And my guess of who the culprit was, was wrong, unlike the first book..

Finished this one a few days ago, but had to think about it I enjoyed it that much. It wasn't as entertaining as I'd hoped, but wasn't a total let down either. And I did like the main character, Heathcliff Lennox.. So while I'm only giving this a so so rating, I am going ahead and reading the second in the series.

Decided to give this one a go, looks entertaining and not too deep.. Only a couple chapters in, so far, so good.. First lines in and there was a dead man discovered on the front step. A man unknown to Lennox and the household.. With a cryptic note in his pocket.. Should be jolly fun, I think.

Finished over the weekend, kept to the standard of his first Nero Wolfe venture, I think. Thought the ending was good.. The 'who did it' part, as there were a few red herrings thrown in the mix.

If you enjoy Rex Stout's Nero Wolfe Mysteries, I recommend giving Goldsborough's continuation a go: I think he captured the original characters & style very well

Currently reading... And I must say, I was pretty leary about reading these, being a fan of Rex Stout's Nero Wolfe Mysteries, and especially after reading so not so hot 'new' Sherlock Holmes books.. But I think Goldsborough does a very good job of duplicating Rex Stout's voice .. Archie & Wolfe shine just like the originals... And there's currently 14 books in his series!

I'm a huge Nero Wolfe fan, and have read most of the Red Stout series, and reread many of them over the years.. I'm really hoping Goldsborough's take on the iconic duo is good.. I have several on my Kindle, so might as well start with the first in the series😊

While this is said to be one of the best Lord Peter Whimsey books, I really didn't think it was all that.. There was an over abundance of detail about bell ringing, peaks, etc, and I found the pace of the book a bit up & down.. And I found the ending a bit lacking. Murder Must Advertise was much better IMO. Gaudy Night is next in the series but I think I need a break from Miss Sayers

Continuing on with Lord Peter, started this one over the weekend.. I probably could have done without the very detailed description of the bell ringing; but so far so good

Back to Lord Peter Whimsey.. Think I have 5 books left to read in the series ..

A nice short read (three stories) for a Sunday afternoon.

One story down, two to go. The title story was first, and while predictable, was very good.

Light, enjoyable read, as usual for this series. Churchill & Pemberley are quite the characters. The mystery didn't turn out as I expected, but then that's the ppint.

Been wanting to start this one for a couple of nights now, but have been plagued with serious sinus headaches.. But tonight's the night!!

Finished last night. Overall I really enjoyed the book; Giles does a good job of portraying Olive Thomas's short life. I liked how she told the story from Olive's point a view.. If you have an interest in the silent movie era or the Follies girls I would recommend..

Currently reading.. I wasn't in the mood for 'A Memory of Violets' so I switched it up... Back to the roaring 20s.. It's my favorite era to read about.. Fiction & non-fiction.. One book usually leads to another topic.. Just saved a bio on Ziegfeld & his Follies..

Starting my first read for the new year.. I've read three other of her books 'The Girl From the Savoy', 'The Cottingly Secret' & 'Last Christmas in Paris' all were very good.. Though the Cottingly one was a bit slow in the middle.. Have ' The Lighthouse Keepers Daughter' in my TBR pile for later this year

A lovely book. I enjoyed it immensely. Of course, I also love A Christmas Carol; and have to admit I know very, little of Charles Dickens' actual life.. Although, now I might have to find a good biography on the man. And this a work of fiction, but I found it charming

Marshmallow is fascinated with my Kindle, my tablet and my phone.. Just started this one.. So far, so good.. I'm actually about 25% in now. 🎄

I love this book.. Always have, who knows how many times I've read it.. It's not a yearly thing for me, just when the mood strikes. I needed it this year, so tired of the 'Scrooges' I know, may they also see a transformation and hold Christmas in their hearts year round 🎄

Easy festive read.. I'm still getting used to the humor of the Churhill & Pemberley characters after reading the author's Penny Green series.. But I enjoyed the story

Ithis book was just so-so; I really don't think the author captured the voice or style of Doyle's characters. Doubt I will read any other of his Holmes books
