The movie adaption of this book (if happens) is going to have a tough time capturing the looming emotions between the lines... loved how detailed and accurate the author portrayed Asian Americans' lives in the early days (some still apply today).

This book and couple of others inspired my love for Alaska. I was very touched by the story and the beautiful Alaskan scenery described in the book. I went to Juneau AK summer17, explored Mendenhall glacier and saw Romeo's exhibit in the visitor center. It was quite emotional. I missed Jans' book-signing in Juneau and emailed him about it. He remembered my story and signed another book (The Glacier Wolf) that I ordered from his store!
