When I was 14, I joined a religious cult. My experience was a far cry from the violent & dark cult depicted in The Girls, but many of the elements felt uncomfortably familiar. The aching adolescent need for acceptance, the charismatic leader, etc echoed my teen years. Wonderful (and cathartic) read.
