"When you die, you‘ll be wearing your white dress with red roses, and your hair will be long and falling around your shoulders. When they shoot you, up on your damn roof or walking alone on the street, your blood will look like another red rose on your dress, and no one will notice, not even you when you bleed out for Mother Russia."

As a mother of two children who are the sole reason of my existence this book was very difficult for me to read. I hated Larissa with a passion. I was so angry, so sad and I cried so much. But I was smiling at the end. An evil "karma is a bitch" smile. I don't think I have ever read a book before where I hated the main character so much. Still, this is one of the best books I have ever read. Paullina is simply a remarkable writer. REMARKABLE!

So sad and painfully real...This is a story I will never forget! My heart broke for Jack. It is amazing how the author managed to get inside the mind of a 5 year old. I highly recommend it!

But mainly, so very, very stupid. I desperately want to grow old."

"Every day I read and every day I realise that I have everything left to read. And every once in a while I reread, even though I only reread that which deserves the privilege of rereading. A book that doesn‘t deserve to be reread doesn‘t deserve to be read either."

"And so, does the destination matter? Or is it the path we take? I declare that no accomplishment has substance nearly as great as the road used to achieve it. We are not creatures of destinations. It is the journey that shapes us. Our callused feet, our backs strong from carrying the weight of our travels, our eyes open with the fresh delight of experiences lived."

"I have stolen princesses back from sleeping barrow kings. I burned down the town of Trebon. I have spent the night with Felurian and left with both my sanity and my life. I was expelled from the University at a younger age than most people are allowed in. I tread paths by moonlight that others fear to speak of during day. I have talked to gods, loved women, and written songs that make the minstrels weep. You may have heard of me."

Oh, Julian! What have you done to me?
This book consumed me. The angst, the pain, the longing and the overwhelming love.
The Tiger Catcher was just the beginning. The story evoles so much more in The Beggar's Kingdom. But it is not just the story itself. It is Paullina's writting. She does this to me with all her books. She can turn any story in the most heartfelt thing you have ever experienced.
This book will be on my mind a lot.
