I love when a book comes across your path that you open up and lose yourself in. You become completely invested in all the characters. Cheer for them, weep with them , get pissed off with them. And you come to the end and you‘re so sad the journey ended. This book is phenomenal. Please read it.
Fun who done it. Great characters and a great sun plot of a guy finding who he is and beginning to create his family.
It was just meh. It started out great then became very predictable.
It‘s fun to see if the bad guys get their come uppance. As a classical musician I would have loved a history of how the violin traveled from Italy into Ray‘s hands. Maybe back and forth. 18th and 19th century juxtaposed by current story.
Loved reading this book. Not an author I normally look for but his writing is stunning. His thoughts on how to live in this world here and now often breaks your heart. On top of it all it‘s also an amazkng travel guide. Travel the world and never leave your reading chair.
It was definitely a slow book. I wanted to understand and get the husbands point of view and how he worked through the grieving process as so many folks go through something similar. I think what I liked about the character was his honesty with himself. While it feels yucky to read that honestly it‘s real to read that. None of it is very appealing which if we are willing to be this honest with ourselves would see some of ourselves in him.
Great read. Fun “ by the pool” read. Love how unapologetic he is about his life. As we all should be! He loves life and loves it to the fullest. Despite setbacks, crappy relationship, work. Yay David!
I loved this book. The writing is beautiful. In reading other reviews, I was amazed how people said they wanted to hate this book but couldn‘t. I‘m perplexed why they would come to a book wanting to hate it. The inner life of this character is Everyman. And especially every gay man. It‘s funny and tenderhearted and invites, once you‘ve finished, to want to start all over again.
Loved this book of poems. Will require more rereading, listening to people read the poems and a lot of reflection. But overall a wonderful read. Will enjoy digging deeper into these poems over the coming years.
Pretty good book. The last hundred pages were really well written. Beautiful writing.
I listened to this book. Found the reader really engaging and loved the insights into 19th century life. Incredibly informative about what it was like living in the shadow of two presidents.
