Always love a good re-read, especially in a new format. Diving back into this magical world this weekend!
Where has this book been all my life?!😍 And, this audio is just the best.
I can't believe I've only ever read Pride and Prejudice. Which should I read next??
How I determine if the Kindle version is the right format to read a certain book: 1) Is the hard copy too big/heavy to fit in my purse? 2) Is my hard copy signed by the author? (If yes, I don't want to ruin it). And in the case of "The Empathy Exams" 3)Will I be underlining/hi-lighting every other sentence? Seriously, you guys these essays are so good!
"Why don't you keep reading, and ignoring me. I'm cool with that," said no cat, ever.
As far as audio books go, I usually love autobiography read by the author. So, I had high hopes when I checked this out from the library. But, alas, I just couldn't do it, and had to bail. This was not based on content, but rather President Carter's reading voice. I just had a really hard time following along. I absolutely think I'll still pick this up in physical form and try actually reading it instead. But the audio just wasn't for me.
Oh, you guys. This book is just EVERYTHING. I can't remember the last time I finished a book and immediately wanted to flip it back over and start reading it again. I know we're not even a full month into the year, but is it too early to claim that this very well may be my favorite book of the year? Honestly, you really need to go read this. Immediately.
"A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies...The man who never reads lives only one." - Seemed fitting as a quote to accompany this pic from my favorite bookstore in the whole universe :)
We're supposed to get 2-4 inches of rain here in the Bay Area today (I know, I know, we're lucky it's not all the snow everyone else is getting), so I'm planning to do nothing more then sit here on my couch all day with this book, a comfy blanket, my cats, and my coffee. It's gonna be great 😃
I listened to this on audio, and loved it. The narrator is really good, and the storyline completely sucked me in. It was actually one of those books where when I finished it I thought "Huh, that would make a really good movie." And, I'm pretty surprised that it hasn't been made yet. The characters are well developed, and some are even strangely likeable even when they shouldn't be. The structure is unique in a good way. Overall, highly recommend.
Books, coffee, and cats. My idea of a good Saturday morning! Also, can't wait to jump into this one, I've heard good things about A Little Life.
So, I read this completely blind to any reviews or spoilers, so I had no idea what to expect. I really think that is the way to go with this one. That way when you get to the twist, it really is a "whoa!" moment.
I listened to the audio book, and I have to say that the audio version is very well done. I was hooked almost instantly.
I know a lot of people really enjoyed this book, and I really wanted to. But it just wasn't for me. I found it kind of boring and just couldn't connect to the characters.
