Pure brilliance. So happy I picked this one up at the @strandbookstore Central Park kiosk and then read it for #diverseathon.

Oh man I wanted to love this. It's been compared to both His Dark Materials and Harry Potter, which I think is just an unfair comparison to make - it sets the bar way too high. However, at first, I think it actually was living up to that hype. The world was so interesting and complex, and I felt like they were setting up something so interesting. And then...it just became so dull. The excitement and intrigue faded away almost completely.
