Descriptions of cooking and food were good but otherwise writing was over simplistic. I enjoyed the magical realism and sometimes the book reminded me of Like Water for Chocolate, but a weak imitation.

Sometimes interesting. Sister relationship with brother was weird. Ending was an unwelcome twist. Overall well written but I didn‘t get the point of the book.
