When children fall into fairytale worlds in stories, ever wonder how they feel about coming back? This short novel is about a home for children who have come back from magical worlds but are dying to return.

Finally got around to reading this short book containing a correspondence between book lovers. I'll have to watch the movie next ... and perhaps write some letters.

Loved the premise. Takes place in Victorian-era London and presents a world in which people's sinful thoughts and actions are physically manifested as smoke that emits from their bodies. Imaginative and intriguing. Second half meanders and didn't answer all my questions, but I enjoyed it overall.
