I didn't really like this book. It was incoherent rambling from the start to finish with no real plot. The characters were one-dimensional and the MC Holly was very unlikable. It also felt very dated. However, I read this in the early days of covid19 pandemic and I found it very escapistic. I may give Jenny Colgan another try because I kind of liked the writing style and she has potential to be a fun author to read.

I liked the title, but that's all. I expected something deep and insightful but what I got was a flimsy memoir. I hope she writes more moving obituaries because this was pretty weak.

It has been a while since I read this, but I remember it to be weird and wonderful. This book celebrates libraries and librarians. The author used to be a librarian and it shows. The writing is good but the story made me a little uncomfortable and I didn't care about the characters as much as I would have wanted to but I still think it's well worth reading.

"I do not love mankind." After opening line like this I will be very disappointed if I don't like this book. So far so good.

Oh Eleanor, she both melted my heart and shattered it. I loved her character, she's one of the most unforgettable heroines I've had the pleasure to read about. Her observations about life and other people made me burst out laughing only to find myself on the verge of tears the next moment with the revelations of her life. Such a funny and sad story, it managed to surprise me to the very end. I loved it.

Smrloomis I loved this book so much! 💕 5y
