‘Good night, my friends!‘ said Galadriel. ‘Sleep in peace! Do not trouble your hearts overmuch with thought of the road tonight. Maybe the paths that you each shall tread are already laid before your feet, though you do not see them. Good night!‘

If you're looking for a quick thrill read, the first Jack Reacher novel is very addicting. Wasn't a huge fan of how the plot featured (repeatedly) the extreme, disturbing violence done by the villains--felt unnecessary--though I suppose novels like this tend to be dark with its villains and crimes. The reason I give it a high rating is the fun way it weaves the story of a blues guitarist into everything. Added a nice atmospheric twist to the book.
Just digging into this for the first time. It's interesting to see a Middle Earth story told from the perspective of a human character/culture. The Hobbit and LOTR were from a hobbit's perspective, and The Silmarillion was from an elvish perspective. The Children of Hurin adds a new flavor to the experience of Middle Earth that is surprisingly different in tone--less magical and more in-the-Earth grit of humanity.
