Sci-fi adventure. We've destroyed Earth so send two filled ships into space with separate destinations. Will they make it? Is man-kind finished? Are we alone?
A couple of chapters in and my interest is caught. This is set a few years on from book two, following the previous pattern. We are visiting characters from book one which is interesting.
Epic ending, truly fabulous trilogy.
Excellent opening to the trilogy, cliffhanger meant I had to go straight on. I want the blue cover!
Friends are describing this as bleak and it does get grim. However, there were light moments: loyalty, friendship and even tolerance. Okay, not too much. We also get a glimpse at the cause of this dystopian world.
I first saw this with the forest cover and instantly needed it. The U.K. Cover is completely different 😟. Still, you don't actually see them so... This book was gripping from start to finish. I had quibbles with the twin strategy but still felt it was a worthy read.
As I read this I kept wondering what it reminded me of but never came up with an exact answer. It is fun and whooshes along like a roller-coaster. The premise of princesses fighting for the chance to be empress is hilarious. There are so many other things going on in this book too: espionage; betrayal; war-fare..it's very exciting!
This was an excellent read. The main character is mute and on a quest to return an object of import to the Seven. His companions are a baby and a goat. Newman tells this tale through glimpses into the recent past and through commentary by a newer companion, Harm. I read this in one sitting as I literally could not stop reading.
This book has it all: pretty cover, pretty pages, maps, texture and a good heft.
Set in a dystopian future, August and Kate are the heirs to two families. Each family ruling half a city, filled with monsters and humans. This novel delves more deeply at what makes a monster
Scorpion Rules is set in a world after war, AI rule and princesses are held hostage to support the peace.
