Finished this lovely book on the beach today. It was another great historical fiction read, I really enjoyed reading about Ankes story and her purpose as a midwife. As a nurse myself I was able to put myself in her shoes and emphasize with the main character. A great story of war, sacrifice and love.

I loved the tattooist of Auschwitz and Cilka‘s sequel (Cilka‘s Journey) did not disappoint! Again I was struck with what this brave women endured and how she persisted was mesmerizing. As a nurse myself I enjoyed her working in the hospitals. A powerful story of love and survival.

This book only took me a few hours to read but left me with powerful thoughts for much longer. Such a heartbreaking true story of the Holocaust. I do admit that it left me wanting more information at the end of the book but overall a chilling read.

TheBookHippie I‘ve read everything he‘s written. All excellent. 5y

This was a wonderful memoir, myself being a nurse I really connected to Paul and the difficult time he had switching from taking care of people to being the person cared for. Although sad, it was beautiful to read.

Cathythoughts Yes I agree , a beautiful book & you have a beautiful copy of it there ✨ 5y

Lale and Gitas story is heart wrenching and beautiful. I had to put the book down a few times and remind myself that it is based on a true story, my mind running constantly of how this could have happened. I loved the ending where the author had facts and in person interviews with Lale and how the book came to be, it really tied everything together!

Finished our first book club read and it was lovely! I found the book somewhat hard to get into in the beginning but after a few chapters I was hooked. Eleanor is quite hilarious and her friendship with Raymond is heartwarming. An easy read that made me both have tears spring to my eyes and a smile across my face not long after💛
