I wish I could have savoured this book. I feel like though it was easy to flow through the text, I missed sections reading it quickly. The phrasing teaches about language while the story tells us about life and death - and the questions that embody our humanity. It had me wiping away tears.

Barely started. Making me sick as I empathize.

Not everyone will love this. The style is edged and irreverent. You doubt her memory and representation. But if you can handle swearing and discussing most topics you will laugh. My five year old kept saying am "Stop laughing; what's so funny?"

The story held me. The imagery was captivating. And the phrasing verged on poetic truth in places.

Already laughing on page 2.

Unreliable narration helps with the suspense in this thriller.

Fun to read! A true caper!

A historical novel set on Iceland which makes you consider freedom, women in society then and now, as well as the death penalty. And it made me cry!!

So this is a book that has excited me yet twice I have put it down. Third attempt

I enjoyed reading about these feminist sisters and their work for equality. A good novel with strong historical footings. The messages on freedom and equality ring true today as well - oh, how far we have come and how little we have travelled.

My only regret is that I read it so quickly. A fun read.

Beautiful written. Pitch perfect voice of a child. Damn scary. I am still not over it. Brilliant but I do not recommend it

Glad to get an extra week to actually start my book club selection.
