Glass Castle is an interesting look into a life of a family which is given in a first-person viewpoint that isn't as fortunate as others. Even though the parents are seen in a bad light throughout the story, the children see redeeming qualities in them, knowing that they wouldn't be there without them, which gives the story it's somewhat light tone. The dark scenes in this book are treated light heartedly or with little impact which sets the mood.
