A brutal and imaginative story with a redemptive ending. Highly recommended for fans of 'Cruddy' by Lynda Barry.

This book offers an opportunity to inhabit the mind of a perpetual loner. The unspoken words in this book are what I find most compelling. The narrator's emotions, which bubble, never to burst, are agonizing. The insights into guilt, loneliness, and sympathy are undeniable and universal.
Cruddy is my favorite novel ever consumed. I have just finished it and find myself paralyzed; trapped still in its bloody, cruddy world. Does anyone have any further recommendations?
This is among a short list of novels which I use as a basis for character judgement. I speak not of the characters contained in Dunn's imaginative world but, of those who have read it. If you have read it, and did not like it, I will not save you from a burning building. Sorry😘
