Berlin has an amazing fluency with words, sentences. She can take you along so gently, even when the story is rough, and then just place you down somewhere that you weren't expecting. I just wished that it was a novel, not short stories, so that I could immerse myself in the characters. But then again, that might have been too much to handle.
