Long, I am woman who speaks but one language, the language of the fall - discontentment and self-condemnation, the critical eye and the never satisfied. 5/5 - superlative

And he knew in that moment that this love business was undefeatable. It captured even older brothers who were strong and brave. 5/5 - excellent.

Listening to an A. S. King lecture and she mentions this author repeatedly. Very, very good. See more Zindel books in my future. 4/5

Twelve lovely short stories about summer love. Favorites: In Ninety Minutes, Turn North by Stephanie Perkins, Good Luck and Farewell by Brandy Colbert, and The Map of Tiny Perfect Things by Lev Grossman.

TirzahPrice I really liked the Lev Grossman one too! 9y

Given the transcendence of God and the finitude of ourselves, what's remarkable is how many of God's reasons we can understand, at least in part. 5/5

"I sat on the porch a little while longer, and thought about babies and butterflies and what the rest of my life was going to be like. When I thought every thought I possibly think, I went back inside and listened for a while to the silence." 5/5 - Excellent

"This is the best thing, Jo. The city stretched out before you, glittering like a sack of diamonds. Yours for the taking. A drink and a smoke and no one to please but yourself. Freedom. That's my answer. The freedom to be your own best thing." Pg. 290
5/5 - Excellent

In 15 short stories, the reader is treated to glimpses of the United States through the eyes of young American women. These range vastly and the best stories shine. Added bonus: at least half feature girls of color.

Suppose we have only dreamed, or made up, all those things - trees and grass and sun and moon and stars and Aslan himself . . . in that case, the made-up things seem a good deal more important than the real ones . . . I'm on Aslan's side even if there isn't any Aslan to lead it.

TirzahPrice Love that classic cover! 9y
