Bailedbailed

518 pages in and I quit. This book spends A LOT of time discussing the main characters love of baseball and his success as a writer at a very young age. Neither of these things interest me when looked at through the lens of white male privilege. While I agree there are some beautiful and intriguing sections in this book - it is not for me.

#yearofthechunkster

RebelReader This one is on my #yearofthechunckster list too! I have heard varied reviews on it which scares and excited me all at the same time. Thanks for your honest opinion. 7y
Ashley_Nicoletto @RebelReader I can see why some people love it and some parts are very very good. I just struggle with lots of filler. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I'll be excited to see what you think if you get to it. 7y

I'm spending the last few days of 2017 organizing my office, book shelves and picking the final books for my 2018 reading challenges. Here are 14 of the 15 chunksters I'm committing to reading for#yearofthechunckster. Not pictured is Rebellion by Molly Patterson which I haven't acquired yet!

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I spy Greg Iles ❤️❤️❤️ 7y
Ashley_Nicoletto I loved Hearts Invisible Furies so much! ❤️ 7y
cathysaid A Little Life 💔 It's so good but such tough subject matter. I still think about these characters a year after reading it. 7y

bookaholic1 Greg Iles, love them 7y
Dolly I just picked up A Suitable Boy today at the library. If no one hears from me it's because I fell asleep and the book fell on me. (edited) 7y
tricours I‘ve been writing a list for my 2018 challenge and noticed how it ended up being like 80% chunksters! Perhaps they just catch my eye more easily on my shelves... 7y
blondie I just did something similar! I need to finally read some of those bigger books on my shelves. 7y
RebelReader @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @bookaholic1 I have had the Iles trilogy on my radar for awhile. Time to get it read. 😊 7y
RebelReader @Dolly I laugh at your comment because sometimes the book does fall on my face! It just happened to @HoneyBaby recently too when she stayed overnight! We might not wanna read this one in bed at night! 😱 (edited) 7y
bookaholic1 @RebelReader I need to get the last one but will wait for paperback, easier on the hands 7y
HoneyBaby @RebelReader I was testing If I was ready to sleep yet!! 7y
RebelReader @cathysaid I resisted this book because I hate the cover, but I've heard all positive things about it so when I got it for $1 I bit the bullet. I probably wouldn't have picked up THIF either @Ashley_Nicoletto if all you Littens hadn't raved about it! Thank goodness for Litsy! 7y
RebelReader @blondie @tricours I love a big book and trust me I still have more on my shelves that I didn't include in my challenge. I guess I just don't want good stories to end! 😉 7y
