athorne @Leniverse @Aleida I think it's more a romanticization of what love once was. Men and women were of a different breed when Stoker was writing, and in that rose-tinted view, a man obeys the woman he loves, just as much as she might submit herself to him. Not unlike a woman having a man that admires her wrapped around her finger, so to speak. (edited) 8y
