A wonderfully written historical fantasy - dripping in Victorian London details with a side of creepiness. We‘re following the frail, elderly Fitzgerald sisters and the more robust Fowler family - all of whom seem to have some mysterious affliction. The book unwinds to cover events in the past that have entwined their fates. It has some Dickensian and His Dark Materials feels - although it‘s definitely adult and more character driven & literary ⬇️
Centique ...than HDM. I‘d say if you liked The Watchmaker of Fillagree Street this is definitely one for you. Again - the blurb for this book tells you the whole set up so don‘t read it if you want any sense of mystery while reading! (edited) 4y
Ruthiella I hate it when blurbs go too far! 😀 4y

batsy This sounds really nice. Dickensian and His Dark Materials? Sold. Taking all of my willpower not to peek at the blurb 😅 4y
Centique @Ruthiella I know right?!! Luckily books sit for years on my TBR and then I‘ve forgotten the blurb by the time I pick them up to read. 4y
Centique @GhostStories really good! But it‘s probably only a 1/10 on the creepiness scale for you - you read properly scary books 😂 4y
Centique @readordierachel I hope you like it 😍 4y
Centique @batsy I think you‘d like it - I can always feel safe recommending a slower moving book to you or @LeahBergen - #thehistoricallife has slow moving superpowers 😂 4y
