Flavia de Luce is a young wannabe chemist/detective that is #headoverheels with dead bodies and I‘m #headoverheels with Flavia. I‘m listening to the ninth book in this series now and Jane Entwhistle does a wonderful job bringing Flavia to life with her narration.

Libby1 I agree! I love these covers. The UK covers are different. Sometime when I‘m in the States I plan to buy the series with those covers. I‘ll save a whole section of my suitcase for them! 🤣 6y

danibolahood Oops I hit send by accident lol. As I was saying before I rudely interrupted myself. I find Flavia just keeps getting better and better as the series goes on. I'm a little jealous that you are just starting at the beginning. Also, I live next to a school where they plow and remove snow from the parking lot between midnight and 3 am every single time it snows so I feel your frustration. 7y

Read.Em.And.Eat @danibolahood I feel like that jealousy is expected haha. I find that there are a few series/books that I wish I could experience for the first time all over again. As far as the snow ploughs go, I caught myself wondering if I could finish my tbr easier in prison... 💭💭💭 7y

This was such a great, quick mystery. I found Flavia to be the perfect mix of quirky and intelligent. I can't wait to continue with the series. I've already ordered the second book 😍

Giving this one a second chance. I bailed on it a few years back, when I was looking for historical mysteries, but Flavia didn't compel me on the page. I keep coming across it on audiobook best-of lists, though, so I'm trying again in a new format. I find a lot of mysteries that would annoy me in print (*cough* Daisy Dalrymple *cough*) more palatable on audio than in print. So far so good!
