I haven‘t done a #scribdpicks for ages and I‘m wanting to get to this book for my #readingwomen2019 challenge under the prompt book by a Nigerian author.
I think it was you @mhillis who used to be tagged when I did these in the past?
Anyone else wants to know when I find something amazing looking on scribd let me know and I‘ll try to remember to tag you!

SW-T The book sounds both amazing and heartbreaking. It‘s sad to think of how dangerous it is for people to be themselves in some countries. I watched the documentaries God Loves Uganda, Call Me Kuchu, and Born This Way and it was tough. 6y
mhillis Yes, I want to know! Great finds 6y
Weaponxgirl @SW-T I will try to find those to watch, thanks for the recs (you always have great ones) books like these always feel important to me and don‘t get nearly enough press imo. 6y

Weaponxgirl @mhillis done! I have a few books I‘ve found on there I really want to read. 6y

You have probably seen a lot of these on the internet already but her comics are always relatable and funny.
Super quick and super sweet.

Seen this a little on Litsy and just a heads up that it‘s available on #scribd in the uk. May dive into this very soon. #scribdpicks

ohyeahthatgirl I'm only 27 pgs in and I've underlined several quotes. 6y
RebeccaH It‘s SO good. 6y

This is translated from Spanish by an Argentinean author and is another #scribdpicks for #womenintranslation.
This sounds really interesting someone talking about their friend who's been kidnapped, probably not to be seen again.
Yet another #tbr for me.

Carrying on from yesterday's #scribdpicks of #womenintranslation they have the second book about nawal life. She talks about her three marriages and exile. As I said yesterday this woman is amazing!

Ok, if anyone wants more temptation to sign up to scribd here is one I just discovered with absolute glee! Another #womenintranslation #scribdpicks here and I'm thinking of dropping all other reading to read this!
This woman is a #inspiringwoman she's a feminist who writes about the rights of Arab women, was a doctor even though the chances of becoming one was stacked against her, arrested by her government and a novelist!

rockpools 😛You're not helping! 😉 6y
Weaponxgirl @RachelO I know 😜 6y

A #scribdpicks of #womenintranslation. This time from Japanese and non fiction. This is about the importance of language and how much can be lost if we all focus on just one.
I'm really intrigued by this one and its another #tbr

mhillis This looks so interesting! I loved her book 6y
Weaponxgirl @mhillis I've been looking at that one too! I'm hoping to get to this one this month 6y
rockpools You may well have explained it to me before (bear of very little brain right now) but tell me about Scribd. It's like an online subscription library with print and audio? What would I need to know? 6y
See All 8 Comments
Weaponxgirl @RachelO yes, it's basically like Netflix for books. I use the app on my iPad and you can read as many books as you want a month for Qe.99. But you do get a month free to see if you like it first. The thing I find hard about it is browsing, it's great if you know what your after which is why I've been doing these #scribdpicks. Ask away if I've missed anything! ? 6y
rockpools @Weaponxgirl Thanks. I might have to give the trial a go. I'd need to stop audible if I subscribed, but I'm definitely curious. Do you tend to read on your phone? 6y
Weaponxgirl @RachelO I stopped audible when I got this as I felt it was better value with the combination of ebooks and audiobooks. I read on my iPad but I think you can read on a laptop too. I like the app as I can download books to read on the go. Only other complaint I have is the sleep mode is for set amount of time when I like it to end at the end of a chapter. 6y
rockpools I suppose I'd have to be thinking of it as primarily an audio replacement. I don't have a tablet & my laptop's too heavy to read on right now. I'll definitely do the trial month, tho might save it for a couple of weeks til I'm more caught up - you're finding lovely stuff! 6y
Weaponxgirl @RachelO my huge problem is reading quick enough to keep up with what I find! But that is the never ending struggle of us bookworms 6y

Another #scribd find of #womenintranslation this sounds like an epic historical novel about a real life woman who led a revolt for Indian independence against the British.
Another #tbr and if that blurb doesn't sell it I don't know what will to be honest. #scribdpicks

Andrew65 Stacked. We are bad influences on each other. 😂😂 6y
Weaponxgirl @Andrew65 I remembered you liked historical fiction 😀 6y

The Time Of Women | Elena Chizhova

So with it being July and the photo challenges over I can get back to #womenintranslation books that I found on #scribd. This is about 2 women who are determined to be able to look after a little girl with disabilities and is perfect for anyone doing the #readingwomenchallenge who are looking for a book by a Russian author.
Also August is women in translation month so a great chance to start planning our reading lists for then.
