Time for the bookish discussion question of the day! Here it is: If you put together a Reader Starter-Pack for brand-new readers, what would it have? #BookTalk

BooknerdsLife Set of Harry Potter, The Giver , a Man Called Ove, any books by Jay Kristoff 🤗 6y
Bookwormjillk Harry Potter, Jane Austen, Louise Penny, and 11/22/63 by Stephen King 6y
Emilymdxn I‘d go mad trying to fit everting in and work out what I wanted to represent! First things coming to mind are the shipping news, I know why the caged bird sings, Gilead, lots of banana yoshimoto and my brilliant friend. Idk why those ones popped into my bead though 6y

rwmg I think it would have to be tailor made to the non reader. Book of the film they've enjoyed? Hobbies? 6y
TheSpineView A little bit of everything across time. Maybe Frankenstein, Pride and Prejudice, Grapes of Wrath, etc. 6y
andreadmw 1 book from a few different genres. It‘s hard to say which books exactly because it would have to be individual. But I‘d pick a book from a wide variety. Maybe a couple “popular” books like Davinci Code. Things that did well as movies too. 6y
Palimpsest Definitely would depend on the age of the would-be reader because I‘ve enjoyed some books now that I would not have as much when I was younger and vice versa. Everyone likes different things. I‘ve never read a Western and don‘t like horror unless it‘s gothic, so I would never include a book by King even though I like his book On Writing, but others might love it. Favorite titles for me have also been non-fiction books about books, won‘t work for 6y
Palimpsest New readers. Otherwise Frankenstein, The Alchemist, The Shadow of the Wind are a few that come to mind. 6y
CaroPi Difficult to say. Age of the new reader? Does it like sports? Is patient? Like things fast? Like to cook? Personally I will try to select a graphic novel but need to have more information about the person to decide which one. If it cooks I will say #relish then again all is relative 6y
