This book tells the story behind the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act. She endured so much in her personal and professional life and I was so teary eyed while reading the last chapter of this book! It also includes text of RBG‘s bench announcement and Obama‘s speech.

Read for Something that Turned out Unexpectedly #booked2019

mhillis @Riveted_Reader_Melissa Yes I saw it on Goodreads! It was good although a few sentences perplexed me. Only one more book to go and I‘ll be finished with the bingo card! 5y

The author "recounts the targeting and persecution of African American as well as white writers during the McCarthy era, reconstructs the events of the famous 1959 Black Writers' Conference in New York, and argues for the ongoing influence of the Black Popular Front decades after it folded." #americanhistory #mccarthyism #maryhelenwashington #politicsandculture #blackhistorymonth #readsoullit
