This picture book biography follows George Fletcher, a black cowboy growing up in the early 1900‘s. Growing up in Umatilla County, Oregon, Fletcher always wanted to ride in the rodeo. In 1911 he rode in the Pendleton Round-Up where his epic ride and subsequent (racist) shut-out earned him the title of “The People‘s Champion.”
This is a great story for elementary, but the display font is hard to read as text 🙄
