#bannedbooks #minireviews I‘ve finished my first three books for banned books week. And Tango Makes Three was a cute story, but the text was a little dry, especially for a children‘s book (so-so rating). Captain Underpants was hysterical (pick), and I loved Drama, although even my high school didn‘t put on productions that ornate, let alone my middle school! It‘s a pick, too.

MsMelissa I‘m surprised in this day and age books still get banned. Honestly though, I can‘t remember it ever being much of an issue here when I was growing up, and it certainly doesn‘t seem to much of one now. Although I recognize that I may just not be aware of it since it doesn‘t seem to be in the news here. Although books have been banned in Canada, I get the feeling it is more of an American thing. MsMelissa Update. I just found a list of books that have been challenged in recent years. And Tango Makes Three was on the list! It was removed from circulation in a Calgary library. Ridiculous! Most challenges thankfully are dismissed. 4y

DGRachel @Book_Fiend_Melissa Yeah, I‘m constantly amazed by the books that get challenged or banned here. Mind you, I shouldn‘t be considering what a puritanical, hypocritical country the US is. I swear, I‘ve never been more ashamed to be an American. 😭😭 4y

MsMelissa I just found out we don‘t have a banned books week here, but a Freedom to Read Week (same idea). It takes place in Feb each year. 4y
