pickCeline is a 60 something PI who was inspired to be a PI after suffering a familial loss as a teenager. She had some Lillian Boxfish vibes going on—spunky, classy, and stylish. She is investigating a situation where a man was presumed dead by a bear attack decades ago. Is he really dead or did he abandon his daughter?

Reviewsbylola @emilyhaldi hated it too. They both gave it two stars. 🙈 I didn‘t even want to read it because I figured it was horrible. My low expectations actually helped in this case. It wasn‘t my favorite book and it came close to being a so-so. I actually really enjoyed all the background stories on Celine though, especially those from her childhood. @Cinfhen 6y

Reviewsbylola Haha, it was almost a so-so. I gave it 3.5 stars. I can see why you guys disliked it but I thought the writing was well done and I loved Celeste as a character. The actual mystery aspect was a bit half baked for me. @emilyhaldi 6y
Kalalalatja @Cinfhen I‘m with you! I tried making my own system with 1-2 stars being a pan, 3 stars a so-so, and 4-5 stars a pick, but then I find myself giving 3 star books picks, because I really enjoyed it, but it wasn‘t the greatest book ever. I can‘t even stick to my own rules 😝 6y

Kalalalatja I actually quite liked the no-star rating system in the beginning, because stars have their own issues (seriously Goodreads, when can we have half stars!!!!), but now I‘m needing some more nuance @Cinfhen @Reviewsbylola 6y
