Confession time: I hate rating books because I just can't quantify the worth of a book on a scale. I don't have a list of #FiveStarredBooks because I have never given a book a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ rating! Even my favourite books of all time (like the tagged book) I gave only 4 stars because no book is perfect. 😳 Sooo anyway, here's as many of my highest rated books as I could fit in one picture. Guildedearlobe That why I just rate books based on my enjoyment and not literary merit, etc. A book doesn‘t have to be perfect from me to love. The Stand is my all time favorite book but it‘s far from perfect just the one I‘ve enjoyed the most. 6y

CouronneDhiver I agree with @Guildedearlobe ☝🏽 My ratings are always about how much I liked it, not whether a critic might find the story well-written, fully developed, etc. 6y

twohectobooks I agree with both of the previous commenters! A five star book is generally just a book that I think of as perfect FOR ME, not objectively perfect. 6y

rwmg And TBH my ratings are very inconsistent depending on how I was feeling at the time. Looking back, was book x really as good as book y? 6y

RebL I never rate books for the same reason. It‘s subjective to begin with, then you add my fickle nature, and the result is a inconsistent mess. 6y

Amandajoy I use the stars as a hate it to love it rating scale. Still very subjective. 6y

TK-421 @Guildedearlobe @CouronneDhiver @twohectobooks @Amandajoy I try that, but my ridiculous brain just won't let me give anything a 5 (or a 1, for that matter. I'd love to be able to give my favourites 5 stars, but my mind rebels. It's almost like I'm keeping things open, waiting for that book that transcends my current scale and screams "5 stars!" 6y

TK-421 @RebL @Lcsmcat @rwmg Exactly! One day it might be a 4 & the next it's a 3, and when I start looking at my ratings, I start wondering whether Book A should really be a 3 when compared to Book B even though I gave them both 4 stars & then I start second-guessed & I'm just lost 😭 6y
