I really enjoyed this! I learned a little bit about mythology, as well. I‘m sure I knew some of this at some point, but most of what I once knew I‘ve forgotten! It‘s a short story, so it‘s fairly quick to read

Continuing my indulgence rereads. I read this book EVERY YEAR. Easily my favorite magic system and I know the beats of this book forward and backwards. Still not tired of it. Reading this book is akin to a long, hot bath and slipping on a well worn tee after. Relaxing and comfortable
The book had a strong start, the main characters are fun and engaging. But just 2 chapters from the finish, I lost interest. I cared about the main character, but I found that I didn‘t care much about how magic was shaped going forward.
I really enjoyed this, especially from about half-way through (maybe a bit earlier) when the trials began. The trials were fun. I also loved Siegfried, who has a wonderful way with animals. He also added some great humour into the book. Rosa and Lily were strong, tough women, which I also really liked
Tons of stress have me going to my favorite relaxing reads - fairy tale retellings. This cover is AWFUL, but the story is excellent. I love the idea that stories, songs, even poems and rhymes can shape a world, and the Fairy Godmothers are trying to make sure all takes in their kingdoms have happy endings. Great story, fun world, and great characters. Read if you want something happy with great world building
Fantasy award winner Mercedes Lackey once again does a fairytale retelling of Little Red Riding Hood and Beauty and the Beast with a merchant's daughter trying to break the curse set upon a royal duke. Romance and page turning storytelling ensues.
This actually had a few different storylines, which made it a bit confusing for me at the start. I enjoyed the second half much more after one of the storylines wrapped up (Aleksia‘s “usual business”) and the other two storylines (including searching for the imposter) joined up.
