I‘m excited to have Jace join me again for #foodandlit this month. I adore Moomin so this was the perfect opportunity to introduce him to Jace. I used to be very involved in Postcrossing & loved receiving Moomin cards from Finland. All of these were adorable, especially Moomin & The Favourite Thing.

I devoured this book, remaining riveted to every page. It was such an engaging read that I‘m rating it highly despite mixed feelings over the ending.
I read the description of this before the English translation released and it haunted me until I hunted down a copy. I started it last not, trying to decide if I wanted to read this or the next Charlie Fox thriller… and didn‘t look up until I was a quarter of the way through.
I‘ve been hearing huge praise for this book for about 15 years so I think my reading experience suffered a bit from sky high expectations. But it is charming, with some lovely nature writing and the relationship between the little girl and her elderly grandmother is touching. Sophia Jansson‘s delightful afterword underlined the strength of the connection, both to the people and place. The photo is an outer island in the Stockholm archipelago.
I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!). Feel free to join in!

I read this as part of my reading around the world challenge, and it was pretty good. There are two more to the trilogy but crime, suspense and thriller and not my usual genre so I don‘t think I will continue. It‘s a great beginning if that is a genre you love though.
What an amazing story and the illustrations were wonderful.

Going to start reading this book set in Finland for part of my read around the world challenge. (I‘m also back to reading Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman as it‘s finally back in from the library…that‘s been one hell of a slow read!)
