A Brief History of Time | Stephen Hawking

Pickpick

Content-wise, I felt this was more of a review for me, given that I had started my meanderings into cosmology/physics with Brian Greene‘s “The Elegant Universe.” But it‘s not lacking in star appeal (no pun intended)…I‘m a huge fan of Stephen Hawking, RIP. I‘d recommend this short book to anyone wanting their black holes, neutrinos and particle colliders put in introductory lay terms, from a famed theoretical physicist with a sense of humor.

1. What happens when you die?
2. Is there life after death? Reincarnation?
3. The universe, space, life on other planets?

Only 3 things? But I have so many more questions! 🤣

Despite the author's engaging style, I suspect the glimmers of understanding may have just been an illusion. A glossary would have helped.

I've been reading The 100 Year Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson [not pictured] but it's a bit strange so I'm proceeding slowly. I ordered Before The Big Bang The Prehistory of Our Universe by Brian Clegg from my interloan system at my library, and just got notice that my Libby hold of The Winners by Fredrik Backman is in. It will be a lit-erary weekend for me 🤓📚

I forgot I ordered this thru my library system. I'm glad they're open late and I was able to remember to pick it up. Time to find out if I like reading about space as much as I enjoy watching videos about it.

134/150 This probably isn't fair. I didn't expect this book to be Cosmology 101, but it's written so far above my head, as a casual science reader, that I found it difficult to follow. The constant bombardment of physics theorems and mathematical equations left me numb. 2 ⭐⭐
