As a birthday gift to myself I finished this: wow. The first 70 pages portrayed what I had expected for the whole book and every time I caught up to a twist the plot kept turning. It was great and unexpected and (as an artist) close to my heart. Real dialogue with regional dialect of both the Brooklyn hipster and Kentucky hillbilly- didn't feel forced. I'm finding this increasingly hard going. The hero has had to run away from the village he was fleecing and the author has subsequently and literally lost the plot. I find that the more I look at the percentage read thing on on kindle or the view from the bus (cherry blossom) the less likely I am to finish the book- this one's prognosis is not looking good!
