This is my nonfiction autumn book stack…unstacked! 🤣 I‘ve had these on my shelf for a few months. It‘s time to dig in. #autumnreads #nonfiction #Christianbooks I‘m also getting back into reading the daily Bible study periodical Tabletalk. Always good stuff in there!

#mischiefandmayhem - Here's my answers:
1. A Good Girl's Guide to Murder (actually the whole series) by Holly Jackson
2. The chill in the air and the beautiful colors of the leaves.
3. Mysteries - cozy and not-so-cozy
4. Reading lots of Halloween/spooky books with my team and all the games
5. A parade, children in their costumes, barbecued ham sandwiches and pumpkin-carving at Grandma's with all of our family.

Happy #Scarathlon

PuddleJumper Family pumpkin carving sounds lovely 1y

I can't say pick nor can I say pan. I think it is necessary for people to read this style of book. I find that there are a few things I can agree with the authors on. Very few. The rest is terrible, eisegetic drivel. The authors blatantly disregard the Old Testament in establishing their beliefs. Everything we see today in "church" is pagan in origin. Seriously. Tithe? Pagan. Buildings? Pagan. This is the theology that damages.

BookDadGirlDad The authors talk of proof-texting. They decry the practice. Yet, this book is rife with it. They make the Messiah hypocritical and ignore what He practiced and taught. I read this to see what I hoped would be a light in the darkness of modern Christianity. It is not. It is not. 3y

So many new choices. I'll start with this one. The stats will be solid with George Barna involved

#bookhaul today. Finally got Inheritance by Paolini. Problem: I have yet to read 2 and 3. #booknerdproblems The Vines is reference. The rest....apologetics and research works.

This short book is a difficult read, if you take it seriously and really get introspective and honest with yourself. She frequently references how each of us, and the church as an institution, needs to die in order to become something better, like a seed must crack open in order to produce fruit. The basis of the American church, as an institution of colonialism and oppression, is hard to take for those who love it. But we need this book.

My parish did a book study on this last month, but I was unable to participate. So I‘m going it alone now.

So I have been a bit MIA on here and partly in the Crew Groups, but I would like to change that!! I thought this would be a fun game to play. Leave a number in the comments and I will answer honestly…. I may regret this… but let‘s do this!!!

AsYouWish @Bklover Wow!! Starting off with a tough one!!! My one wish would be to make sure that every child in the world had a safe place to call home and they wouldn‘t have to worry about anything other than being a kid. 💙💙 3y
AsYouWish @CaffeineAndCandy Good question!! I would say books, of course!!! 💙💙 (edited) 3y

This was an interesting book to read in the midst of our current time where there has been much quarantine and isolation. I agree with the premise of the book that need to be with people in order to really be known and to grow in our faith. I enjoyed the book and felt that it gave me encouragement and more to think about. It did get a little long for me toward the end.
