Finished! I really liked this one: the style or writing was fast and direct, and the use of the texts from the court of Akhenaten was really interesting. The book explores the cult of Aten during Akhenaten's reign in Ancient Egypt and it's really interesting.

Although it's for only for studying that I picked up this book, I have to say I'm enjoying it. It's really interesting and I like the use of texts and pictures. As History student, I really like these kinds of books

Honestly, I would've never picked up this book if it wasn't for the upcoming exam. It was a rather boring read at times, and challenging in a bad way.
But there were some good parts, like the one regarding parenting and gender roles, so...

Clwojick At least it‘s done now, and you can move on to something new 💖 3y
thereadingpal @Clwojick i have 3 more books for this exam 😂 we'll see if the others are better 3y

Although this is not my area of expertise, as I focus on Ancient Greece and Rome usually, this book is quite interesting: it gives information through epigraphic and documentary sources.

Also, the exam is next week and I'm getting anxious lmao

Since I finished "The rise and fall of Ancient Egypt" by Toby Wilkinson yesterday, today I'm starting "Adorare Aten. Testi dall' corte del faraone Akhenaten" by Marco Zecchi (my professor) for the upcoming exam.
This book is part of my #bigjunereadathon + #bookspinbingo (Free Space) + #bookishfirstjunebingo (Orange cover)

Clwojick Awesome! ☺️❤️ 3y
TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! Love those colors together!! 3y
Clwojick @TheAromaofBooks I know! Me too! I just had to talk myself out of buying another bullet journal in Nordic blue which is really similar to this notebook. I probably don‘t need two extras, right? 🥹 3y

thereadingpal @Clwojick you don't need them but do you want them? I need to buy a new bullet journal because this one is almost over. Won't be able to fit all of June in it either 😭 3y
TheAromaofBooks @Clwojick - All journaling supplies fall under the category of “self-care“ and thus automatically are NEEDS 😂 3y
Clwojick @TheAromaofBooks I feel like you‘ll be able to relate to this HARD, but I think I might have to start a completely separate bullet journal just to keep track of all the series I‘m currently reading, start reading, and own. I swear I start at least 5-10 new series a month! 🫣 (edited) 3y
thereadingpal @Clwojick omg that's a lot. Yeah i just bought a new bullet journal actually. Because I need it lol and I bought some liners to go with it because I want to make it pretty ☺️ 3y
TheAromaofBooks @Clwojick - Oh my gosh, I just put my series into a spreadsheet the other day in an attempt to get myself organized with them! 😂 3y
TheAromaofBooks @thereadingpal - I actually started making/selling notebooks to offset the costs of my bujo addiction! There are sooo many notebooks in this house! 😆 3y
thereadingpal @TheAromaofBooks i don't have enough money for that lmao. I recently lost two jobs over a health issue too. So just the necessary things... Until i get s job, then i bet my ass I'll buy all the notebooks 3y
TheAromaofBooks I'm sorry to hear about your job!! The fun part about journaling is it can be as expensive or inexpensive as you need/want. I've gotten way into grid-lined composition notebooks for all my book/Litsy tracking; I just tape a piece of scrapbook paper over the cover to make it pretty!! 3y
thereadingpal @TheAromaofBooks yeah that's a good idea!!! I like simple covers but I'd like to make it pretty inside xD with drawings or scrap paper 🗞️🗞️ we'll see how it goes with the new one!! 3y

Overall, this was a solid book. Slow most of the time, it's a good introduction to the entirety of Ancient Egypt's history. Of course, you'll need to read other books to get more details on each Pharoah. I appreciated the excursuses on people under the Pharaohs...

thereadingpal Although my main focus for this book was studying the general history of Ancient Egypt for an upcoming exam.
I did NOT appreciate much the snarky comments and the references to modern and contemporary History - eh. Anyway: decent read, give it a go if you want to know more about how Ancient Egypt worked.
