Thao Lam is a master storyteller. I have enjoyed other books by this author but would consider this among their best work. Honestly, I‘m surprised this does not have a Caldicott. This is her mother ‘s refugee story told entirely in pictures. This story is heart wrenchingly beautiful. And the analogy of refugees as ants and what can and did happen. I‘m very thankful the author chose to include at the end a history of their family and

Loaded with several humorous visual details, a fantastic #gazingbook. A definite reread for details.

I think this book could be great to open your students imaginations about the world and you could use this book for them to describe their journeys and hardships through illustrations rather than words.

This book shows a paper boats journey across the ocean and its faces of wonders and dangers. The illustrations and beautiful, and this wordless picturebook does a great job teaching about risks and being brave.

This is a book with no words. Instead, it allows the reader to create their own words in their head with the help of the pictures. The reader follows a little boat through its journey across the ocean.
This book is great for young readers as well as older readers to help the students use their imagination with the story. In the classroom, students can each create their own words to the pages, then the class puts them all together to make a story.
