The story of the downfall of Troy in a nutshell. Although I had a vague idea of things (the war, Helen, Achilles, the Trojan horse etc) I wasn't sure of events & who had fought on which side, so reading an 'accessible to newbies' version such as this one is a good introduction. It's written in Fry's distinctive droll style but I find it impossible to say I enjoyed reading it mainly because all the characters are just so...awful. (continued)

5/5 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕 I love Stephen Fry‘s Greek Books. I hope he does do The Odyssey #greekmythology #stephenfry
A great re-telling of the myth of Troy. Stephen Fry brings the gods and goddesses to life with great humour, knowledge and sense of story-telling. One of the reasons the myths endure & continue to resonate is the human traits the god(desse)s display & this is wonderfully exemplified by Fry‘s books. (Zeus & Hera as a fiesty married couple are my faves). I recommend them all on audio too as he narrates them. A fun, informative read.
