Great start of the year story, but even better if read in both languages. We have so many language learners who speak so many languages in our school that this would help build empathy and patience.

If distinctive voice is your thing, check out this potent blend of Colombian Spanish and English. Por el amor de Dios! Francisca at 15 has immigrated to Miami with the women in her family. Her loneliness and feverish irreverence is sometimes jaded, sometimes raw with self-discovery, her story both tragic and funny, as she negotiates fanatical Christianity and her own queer coming of age. #latinx #LGBTQ
Buenos días, mi reina. Immigrant criolla here reporting desde los Mayamis from our ant-infested townhouse. The broken air conditioner above the TV, the flowery couch, La Tata half-drunk directing me in this holy radionovela brought to you by Female Sadness Incorporated.
(Opening lines of Chapter Uno)
This was OK. I didn't read the back or anything, so wasn't quite sure what I was getting into. Basically, earth got jacked and a bunch of scientists managed to escape and now their children are exploring poly relationships and not. I mean, I like the thought that eventually all genders and preferences will be just accepted, so that was cool. 🤷♀️
High school senior Emoni Santiago has a lot on her plate literally and figuratively. She‘s trying to sort out #college and motherhood and her relationship with her mercurial father, and she‘s also butting heads with her culinary arts teacher and figuring out her feelings about the cute new guy in class.

3.5 ⭐️ This GN is odd, but in an intriguing way. This is a story about relationships and the first generation that has set new rules and moral code to live by. As should be open and free. Our main character Rigo wants to cohabitate with her beau, but they are a very free society and she feels old fashioned. She doesn't want to be monogamous, but in an open relationship. As I said I‘m intrigued, and want to see how the story progresses.
I think this is like #5 out of 21. Will try to finish all of Mario Vargas Llosa's 21 novels both in English and Spanish by the end of this year... #bookgoals #Spanglish
