Shardik is beautiful and rich; terribly sad and hopeful. A story about regret, shame, repentance, suffering, faith and loss thereof, forgiveness, love. It was a slower read for me, but only because Richard Adams packs it tight with this one. It is lovely, I really enjoyed it.

This is my book 1 of (minimum) 2 for March, so on pace! Now, what next? 🤔

Story about two dogs who manage to escape an animal testing facility and have to evade capture and survive.

Wonderfully written and I enjoyed it a lot, the ending is up for debate though. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Faibka OMG!!!! I‘m going to have to overcome the childhood trauma that was left when I watched the animated adaptation. Seriously I‘ve been avoiding this book but, Peter Capaldi! 😱 I can‘t pass it up, lol 5y

Faibka @GingerAntics yes be thankful! this traumatized a whole generation of kids, lol. A film about cute bunnies what could go wrong? Lol it‘s was horrible, my sister and I watched on TV and had nightmares for a month 5y

As an animal lover, this book was a difficult read; but I'm glad I read it right through because it's so worth it.

Adams writing is brilliant, and the message he's putting forth is very important.

Basically a story that'll stay with me forever. ❤

kamoorephoto I couldn‘t even get through the movie OR the book. But that‘s when I was a teenager and really struggling with major feelings about animals being used for all sorts of human purposes (but I did get a 4.0 on an argumentative essay in AP English about Vegetarianism and that was the hardest thing I‘ve ever written!). I may have to try this again now that I‘m a ‘big girl‘ and have 30 years of no meat, etc., behind me!! Even if it makes me cry. 7y
