A dark fairy tale about a princess who wants to save his sister from her abusive husband. Interesting characters, together and separately. Compelling story. Clever writing. Another case of #authoramonth helping me broaden my horizons.

Loved this! The bone dog is charming and the characters are all funny, sweet, and compelling. So happy this was an #AAM pick or ai may have missed this author. Will definitely read more! @Soubhiville

I had a little dinner, and I think I‘m finally warmed up again after standing outside in the wind for a while this afternoon.
I‘m taking a break from long book club books to start this #authoramonth selection.

Starting Nettle & Bond tomorrow for #AuthorAMonth. It will be my first Kingfisher so I have no idea what to expect.
Picked up The Paris Express after setting it aside early last year. So far I‘m finding it more engaging. Washington I‘m reading a few chapters a day. Liking Mob Queen and Shirley is a bit of a slog so far. Next up should be my library books for TOB26. It feels like it should be a good reading week.

I'm enjoying reading this wordless trilogy backwards. This is book 2 in the series. On this adventure, the kids go exploring and run into the king and see him get kidnapped. They use their magic crayons (Purple and the Harold Crayon anyone?) to not only escape the bad guys but to reunite with the king. Excellent illustrations.

Another lovely fairy tale from Kingfisher, this time not a retelling but an original story filled with fairy tale tropes such as evil princes and fairy godmothers. Thoroughly enjoyable. I can always count on T. Kingfisher for a good, reliable read.

A dark fairy tale but a hopeful one, too. The cast of characters were delightful! Mara, the protagonist, is perhaps the least interesting character, but in a way, that also makes her relatable and easy to cheer for.
