And Then There Were None | Agatha Christie
post image

I read my first Christie this year & have now plowed through five more. I don‘t know why it took me so long to “discover” her, but I‘m glad I finally did! I‘ve also included Robin Hobb above because she‘s my husband‘s latest new-to-him favorite author. He says she‘s supplanted Robert Jordan in his favorites, which coming from him is highest praise! He demands I read Ship of Magic first thing in 2018. #newtoyoufavoriteauthors #allthebooksof2017

MommyWantsToReadHerBook I'm so happy you're an Agatha Christie lover now! 😊 7y

I think it‘s still too soon to say Margaret Atwood and Brandon Sanderson are new favorites for me since I haven‘t read much by them, but they are definitely on my radar now, and I‘d love to read more of their books. 😊

Malcolm X only had one book but it was incredible.
Andrej Sapkowski's Witcher Saga is the best written high fantasy series I have ever read.
China Mieville is a unique, brilliant writer - looking forward to more.
Robert Kirkman - Walking Dead, could not stop reading!
Alison Bechdel - Fun Home, mindblowing.
George Eliot - what lovely and witty writing!

KathyWheeler If you haven‘t read any other China Mieville, check out (edited) 7y
Gezemice @KathyWheeler Yeah, Perdido Street Station was my first. I will check it out! I am excited because I hear all his books are in different genres. 7y

Finally diving into the sequel to Sailing to Sarantium! I thought this bit of mosaic tile at work would be appropriate for a book about a mosaic in a world based on early Constantinople. Guy Gavriel Kay is definitely my #newtoyoufavoriteauthors from 2017. An amazing Canadian author, I love everything I‘ve read by this man. And I‘m carefully rationing his books so that I don‘t read them all at once and get sad when there‘s no more. 😅

Andrea4 He's Canadian! 😮 7y
Jabberwocky @Andrea4 Very Canadian! 7y

KimHM Owen Meany is one of my all-time faves, but Irving can vary widely in tone and voice. I recommend Cider House Rules and his classic World According to Garp to start. Happy reading! 7y
merelybookish I'm just echoing other comments but read what Irving wrote in the 70s and 80s. Not sure his more recent stuff is as good. 7y
