I need the next book immediately! I cannot believe it just ended right there. Ending, but not. I cannot wait to start the next book.

GingerAntics People are upset about the Canadian accent of the narrator. Honestly, it‘s not that big of a deal. Maybe I‘m used to it from growing up in the Midwest, but seriously, these people sound like petulant middle schoolers. Get over it. It‘s not that big of a deal, and not incorrect in her region. Chill. I heard no one comment on Mum instead of Mom, but I guess that‘s acceptable to snobby American ears for some reason. 3mo
GingerAntics #canadian #midwest #ErinMoon I am so happy she came back to do the second book, because she was awesome in the first, especially since the character is CANADIAN!!! 3mo

This one was SO cute. It's a coming-of-age story told through the perspectives of people (and their kitchens) who are all connected in some way to the main character. It's a foodie dream and so so charming. 🤍

Rachel.Rencher @Prairiegirl_reading I was craving them the whole time I read that chapter 🤤 5mo
kspenmoll Read this when I was visiting my sister in Omaha. Not quite midwest but close enough! It is a fun book! 5mo
Rachel.Rencher @kspenmoll Isn't Omaha considered to be part of the Midwest? 5mo

I am such a mood reader that I have to have 5 books ready for when I finish my current read (tagged book). If you couldn't tell, I am LOVING having a laid back summer vacation. It's the first one where I haven't had to move to a new apartment/house or teach summer school, and it's really making the insanity I deal with at school all year worth it.
So, I'm going to go enjoy my 2nd cold brew of the day on my porch and read my little heart out. 🤍📚

LiteraryinPA That is so exciting for you!! 5mo
kspenmoll I am soooo happy for you! My last summer teaching was in 2021 & I have been able to relax, refresh, renew myself before the next school year. Priceless! 5mo

I enjoyed this book and they way the characters were woven together, but I would have like to have followed Eva's life more closely. The structure reminded me of Olive Kitteridge, only set in the Midwest. I enjoyed it more than The Lager Queen of Minnesota and I also want to read his latest novel.

CogsOfEncouragement I read this with a book club and we all really enjoyed it. 8mo

I‘m trying something new today! Although I‘ve known burdock a long time, I finally took the time to dig up some roots.

I‘ve perused this book multiple times over the last few years without reviewing it. I haven‘t compared it carefully to other references, but I find it to be a useful book. It doesn‘t include recipes other than some basic suggestions, but it seems a good starting point for identification and ideas.

Tamra The burdock looks a bit like Stick Man, a favorite. 😊 1y
Daisey @Tamra 😂 It does! 1y
SamAnne This is an invasive on my property! I‘ve done a few things with it but not much. 1y
Daisey @SamAnne I believe it! We moved the cattle away from this property for a few years and it‘s gone a bit crazy; which meant it was in places easier to dig than before. I don‘t know that I‘ll do much with it either, but it was interesting to try. 1y

Loved! Lots going on here, capturing a time and place very specific to the early 2000s, and yet still very true today. It made me cry, and was also at times very funny. Would like to read again
