Wowowowow WOW. I started this YESTERDAY and wasn‘t able to put it down until today. A gripping tale of Leonard Cohen. His time in Israel, the accepting of his role in life. The song “Lover, Lover, Lover”. All of it just so incredible and compelling. 8/10.

Beautiful and interesting story. Difficult to navigate at time - dense language. The ending is open - one suspects the worst, but if so, the players go out in a loving blaze of glory

Yeah. Really good book. Really well researched book too. It took me a minute to get into the flow, but it really is a series of short stories that happen to take place in the same location, bound together by a “modern” (by now, historical in its own right, having been written in the 60‘s) storyline. audiobook was ultimately the right choice for me on this one. That does not happen often.

Dense! Khalidi writes from both a deeply historic and deeply personal well. I will never claim to have a full understanding of this conflict but this was much needed context.

This is an ambitious and informative work. While it does have its own politics, the author has achieved the book‘s stated goal.
