At times heartbreaking, this is a beautiful story of defining family with the heart instead of the birthlines. The backdrop of the Rwandan genocide is a constant that informs the actions of everyone, even though time has passed. It could have been awful, and it is sometimes horrific, and always something I want to keep reading. I am about 80% done, so it won't be much longer. I wasn't sure what I thought of this ARC when I first started reading. Now I'm hooked and genuinely care what happens to the characters. It's basically a family saga...

It took me a bit to make sense of the narrative, but now that I understand who and why, I am enjoying this well told story. This is full of the ghosts of the past, and the pain we endure, and yet, it still offers hope. I am looking forward to the rest.
