1980‘s London. Charlie is in love with his neighbor Miranda. He purchases a robotic human named Adam. Charlie courts Miranda and Adam finds himself central to their affair. I didn‘t care too much for this book especially when Miranda started having sex with Adam. That was too much for me so this became my least favorite McEwan book. Can not recommend this one!

His life is changed forever. His bereavement affects his relationship with his wife and his psyche. It was a very moving book with a beautiful ending! A book not to be missed! An extraordinary achievement by Ian McEwan!

This is a children‘s book that would appeal to adults too. 10 year-old Peter Fortune has a vivid imagination. He understands how it would feel to be a cat. He experienced the terror of being chased by evil dolls and he got to use vanishing cream that can actually make people disappear. When it takes him to where reality and daydreams meet, has it finally taken him too far? I will be passing this one onto my grandchildren. They will surely love it!

1962 Florence and Edward celebrate their wedding in a hotel on the Dorset coast. The expectation of their marital duties weighs over them. This is story of lives transformed by a gesture not made or a word spoken. A heartbreaking story which could have turned around if Edward would have showed a bit of love and patience instead of giving up on her. A bit disappointing! I did love the ending however!
