The Visitors: A Novel | Sally Beauman
post image

My last book of 2023 was Lucy Worsley‘s enjoyable middle grade novel about Jane Austen‘s nieces. I‘ve been feeling a little Egypt-ish of late so I‘m going to dive into the tagged book that‘s been on my TBR for several years now. I‘m trying to start the new year off by continuing to whittle down the backlog of books on my shelves… let‘s see how long that lasts! 😆

Thanks for doing this again, @BookNAround ! Happy New Year, everyone! 🎉

Pickpick

Started off as a five star for me. A compelling young narrator full of the wonder and excitement of Egypt and a clarity well researched pull into the life of the archaeologists there. Pivoting around something as momentous as the finding of tutenkamun tomb the story seemed to get a bit lost and I am not sure the split timeline added much. Still a solid pick and absolutely full of the sense of time and place #booked2023 📸 valley of the kings

rubyslippersreads I love this book. 2y

The Murder of King Tut | James Patterson, Martin Dugard
Pickpick

So well written and researched. I am studying Egyptology and to see the events presented in a way that really brings them to life for anyone regardless of whether they have any prior knowledge of the facts is fantastic. My first James Patterson read but definitely won't be my last.

I always like novels with strong women characters. I also learned about Tutankhamun‘s Tomb. Thanks @Birdsong28 for turning me onto a new author.

Just found this author and now I have all of her other books to read. Historical fiction based on the lives of the 3 people who first entered King Tuts tomb. That curse is for real. 😳. Good historical background at the end. Stroke recovery with Eve, one of the three that took antiquities from the tomb.

Very good. Full of historical details and facts. Even though the time jumps were a bit disjointed at first I soon got used to it. Another great book by Gill Paul.

I know this one isn‘t timely, but I just decided I‘m going to try to do monthly wrap-ups.
May was a great reading month for me!

MaureenMc And one of these days, I‘ll figure out how not to cut off the top of my Pic Collage photos. Today is not that day. 😆 2y

My first Gill Paul! The story of Lady Evelyn Herbert, the daughter of the Earl of Canarvon who was involved in the discovery of King Tut‘s tomb. It goes back and forth between the 1920s and 1970s, with a bit of a mystery thrown in. Very well done historical fiction. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Cathythoughts 5 stars ! Stacking. 2y
