Hi everyone👋I‘m still around, still breathing, just in the worst book slump of my life & honestly, a little bit of depression too. But I‘m fighting back & going to try and force a few chapters a day to get my book brain back into gear. Books are still coming in so if I don‘t try and read some soon, I‘ll either die under a book avalanche or the hubby will throttle me! So hopefully, I‘ll be around a bit more!🤞🤞🤞(my grandbubba jumping puddles👆)

Lizpixie @AmyG I can see your grandson is as obsessed as mine! One of his favorite things is watching the road construction crew outside his daycare everyday. They actually wave the buckets of the diggers at him now!🚜 7mo
Lizpixie @carolynm thanks lovely, the only ones happy about this weather are plants, frogs and little boys!🌧️🌂 7mo

Pickpick

A son visiting his parents in SC. A beautiful neighbor. A father with dementia. A stormy night murder. To protect his father, Joey must understand his father‘s vivid memories of a terrible loss and crime. Digging into the past reveals much more than a motive for murder. My first Goldman, but it will not be my last. Carolina Moonset is a ⭐️⭐️⭐️+ pick for me.

This has been my handbag book for the past few weeks. Elderly Anne is succumbing to dementia (in a gentle way, so not too confronting) & the truth of her life is on the way to being lost with her memories. Meanwhile her beloved grandson, Luke, is fighting in Afghanistan and losing the last of his illusions about honour & loyalty. The military scenes are far from heroic, but all the more effective for it. Very moving.

BarbaraBB A touching subject 💔 9mo

I have been trying to read as much as I can about neurological conditions such as Alzheimer‘s and Dementia. Volunteering in Hospice, and working a for few months in home health has taught me a lot. My father and step-mom both have Alzheimer‘s, so these books are very helpful but it‘s still hard. This book discusses some history of mental illness and its institutions, and stories of loved ones who have had these diseases. It discusses the⬇️

JenniferEgnor problems with funding, visibility and compassion. It also discusses the ongoing search for a cure. The author lays out her own plans should this happen to her, as it did her mother. Unfortunately, as of now, there is no medically assisted death available for Alzheimer‘s and Dementia, given the requirements the diseases fail to meet along timelines and cognition. For me, that is what I would want; just to check out and call it a night, by any⬇️ 9mo
JenniferEgnor means within my availability. I don‘t want to exist as a shell, the real me being lost forever. If you are looking for a book about caregiving, this isn‘t it, though it is educational and worth reading. Shown: my husband and I with my father and step-mom, last weekend. She told me her grandmother was 200 years old; she gave the cat human cereal with milk in a bowl instead of her cat food; and we saw banana peels that my father placed inside⬇️ (edited) 9mo

TieDyeDude ❤ It is great that you work in home health, but it must be tough having to “bring your work home,“ for lack of a better term. I'm glad you were able to get something out of this book. 9mo

I am reading the tagged novella and yesterday, I made biff à la Lindström, a fantastic dish I discovered a couple of years ago in a Swedish cookbook and have been making regularly (with a few tweaks) ever since. It's great for cutting down on meat... I served it with sautéed parsnips, gherkins and lamb's lettuce - no idea whether that would be acceptable to Swedes!
