While this book dragged slightly in places, it is an excellent account of the events of the Borden murders/trial/aftermath. Miller doesn‘t give way to sensationalism or a bias when she would be forgiven if she did. I was already a Borden/true crime buff, but I was still able to glean new info from this book! For the record, I don‘t think Lizzie did it. #ChildrensLitClass

This is a lovely story about the author‘s mother. It‘s an interesting book for an American to read, because it‘s an immigration story in reverse (to us). May grew up in America until her parents decide to move back to Japan. She isn‘t fitting in and just wants to go back to California. But when she runs away to the big city, her life takes a different direction. 😊 #ChildrensLitClass

REP👏🏻RE👏🏻SEN👏🏻TA👏🏻TION👏🏻!!! What an ADORABLE story about friendship, creativity, love, and being who you are. I don‘t care that this plot isn‘t ridiculously deep. I don‘t. You don‘t always need that. This was a sweet, fun story. Don‘t ruin nice things! 😂😊❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 #ChildrensLitClass

Meaw_catlady Cute!! I need to check this one out! 💕 5y

This book is one of those that isn‘t complete without the illustrations. This was a fun read! Is it one story? Is it four? Are they related? It would definitely inspire discussion! #ChildrensLitClass

I liked the idea of this book more than I liked the execution of it. Jinny is so unlikeable, so whiny. Sometimes the character‘s growth *is* the plot, but there didn‘t feel to be too much of that here. And I know that lost innocence and all that can make for a good read. This just fell short for me. In so many ways. #ChildrensLitClass Also, it gets compared to The Giver & that needs to stop...
