If you've got a middle school aged reluctant reader on your hands, you can't do better than Wolf Rider. The first sentence is irresistible. I read it to a class of seventh graders some years back. They were rolling their eyes until I got started and then they were riveted. I ran into one of the "cool" boys on a stairway and he said hey, I like that book you're reading us. bernadette I remember borrowing that same set from the library. I haven't tried to revisit them with my daughters yet - they like more fantasy adventure - but a little sad to hear they don't hold up since I loved them so much. 6y
