repost for @julieclair:

In looking at my overstuffed bookshelves, I realized had quite a few books I would most likely never read, because I‘m “allergic” to chunksters, and continually avoid them. So I decided to challenge myself to read 3 chunksters this year. All are welcome to join me. My definition of a chunkster is a book over 500 pages, but feel free to use whatever definition makes sense to you.

I was recently (after several years of illness) diagnosed with mast cell activation syndrome. Afrin is the doctor who first described it, and I‘m really glad my doc recommended this. Because mast cells can release over 200 different mediators when they‘re activated, the syndrome can look very different patient to patient. If you or a loved one has been lingering with strange symptoms, I highly recommend reading this before your next appointment!

Megabooks They‘re discovering the different appearance in patients has to do with the different genetic mutations to the mast cells and their receptors. It‘s really interesting! 5mo
plemmdog I just happened to be scrolling and his name rung a bell… and after googling I realized he taught me computer science at a high school summer enrichment program. Small world! 5mo
Megabooks @plemmdog I saw that he was a computer scientist before becoming a doctor. Very cool! 5mo

Gave me Everything, Everything (Nicola Yoon) & Five Feet Apart (Rachael Lippincott) vibes but yet, not. The ending was nothing like I'd expected until like a few lines from the end and then I wasn't sure I wanted what I thought I did up until that point either.

Ambrose and cosmo are probably my favourite duo in any book. The reason why i love them so much is because they are total polar opposites but they still found somethings to connect on. Ambrose is a nerdy and clumsy pre teen while cosmo is a strong, scary looking felon. The story follows these two and their relationship with Amanda and Ambroses mother. This book was amazing and I definitely recommend it to anyone.
